How to Pixelate Part of an Image to Hide Private Information

Pixelation can make faces, labels, and screen details less readable, but it is an editing effect rather than guaranteed secure redaction. For credentials, identity numbers, medical details, or other high-risk data, completely remove or cover the information with a solid block and flatten the exported image.

Pixelate a photo step by step

  1. Work from a copy of the original image.
  2. Open the Pixelate Image tool.
  3. Choose whole-image or selected-region mode.
  4. Cover the complete sensitive area, including margins around characters.
  5. Increase block size until the content is unreadable at full zoom.

Why light pixelation may fail
